Why Share an Experience
You are the only one who can share your experiences. If you don't share them, no one will. Academics and Historians will provide an overall view of the course of history but everyday people are the only ones who can write firsthand accounts of what changed in your neighborhoods and towns. This website will serve as a means for everyday people to record the demographic changes witnessed at the foundation of society.
The people of a society ultimately make a country or culture what it is. For example, the American Constitution was adopted in Nigeria with very different results than those experienced in America. Institutions can only force a population to operate against its will for so long.
Even historians likely will not mention much about demographic change. They will simply describe what changes happened to our institutions or how the values of countries as a whole have changed. History books only sate how one group or another managed to gain power within the context of a larger society. Very little is said about how the numbers of various groups grew or fell.
The primary goal of this website is to be a historical record of demographic changes that are taking place during our time in history. Most of our historical record so far has been written from the top down. That is, academics or the ruling classes are the primary source material for our history books. This website aims to record the historic demographic changes our world is currently witnessing, as experienced by everyday people.
Historic Demographic Changes
The current demographic changes happening to our world are at a scale that is rarely seen in history. Birth rates have collapsed in some regions of the world while they have exploded in others. At the same time, the regions of the world with collapsed birth rates are currently far more successful than elsewhere. This creates a huge pressure for people to move and a huge magnet to attract them to other regions of the world.
Societies that have been almost completely separated for hundreds of thousands of years are now pouring into each other. The results are a mixed bag of blessings and tragedies. This website does not wish to take one side or the other, but to simple record what exactly is happening. One person alone cannot accomplish this. It is therefore critical to the success of this goal that as many people as possible contribute by sharing your experiences on this subject.
Political Correctness and Censorship
This has become a controversial subject at this time in history. People are afraid to share their experiences or opinions for risk of having their speech censored, being fired from their jobs, or simply being rejected by their peers. Submissions made to this website will not be shared anywhere else under any circumstances, and you may share your experiences anonymously.
Please take some time to Contribute your experience or opinion on this matter so as to provide a record from everyday people that those far into the future can read. It will undoubtedly provide them with tremendous insight into what is happening to our world today.
