Nordic Countries

This article will detail current demographics and future predictions for Nordic countries. These countries have traditionally been homogenous societies, but recent decades have seen a historic influx of foreign-background peoples.

These countries began from varying starting points. Sweden began taking in refugees in the 1940's, while Finland absorbed an influx of refugees beginning in the 1990's.

According to the main classification principles of the Nordic statistical centers, persons are of foreign background if they are born abroad or both of their parents are born abroad. The term native population is used for people originating entirely from the host country's national origin...

Narrow Street

If you want to see what any country's future will look like, you simply need to look at the youth of that country. So in this article we will make a list of of countries with their corresponding percentages of present cultural-ethnic groups for those under the age of 5.

This data can be difficult to pin down. Existing data might be found for the population under the age of 5 for some countries, while the same data could only exist for those under 15 for other countries. So the numbers listed in this article may not have exactly the same parameters, but the general picture is still established.

It should be said again that this website has no political objective or motivations of any kind. The goal here is to simply keep a record of the facts during this time of rapid change in our world...

Populations With Blue Eyes

Blue Eyes

Blue eyes are one of the most unique features of the original European peoples. The trait has been in existence for thousands of years and thus has spread to many parts of the world.

A team at the University of Copenhagen did a study in 2008 which concluded that people with blue eyes have a common ancestor. They found that a genetic mutation sometime between 4,000 and 8,000 BC is the cause of blue eyes and the reason all people with blue eyes have this physical trait today.

The study of blue-eyed individuals showed they only have a small degree of variation in the amount of melanin in their eyes. "From this we can conclude that all blue-eyed individuals are linked to the same ancestor," says Professor Eiberg...

It is important to see what the United States was like in 1965 because it is after this year that the demographic structure of the United States makes a drastic change, one that is abundantly noticeable only 50 years later.

Recording Current Changes

Writing

What is currently happening to the world needs to be recorded as thouroughly as possible.

There are two times when the world experienced a form of globalization. One is right now, during the Modern Era, and the other is during the Bronze Age. Therefore it would seem important that we understand why Bronze Age civilization collapsed so dramatically in 1186 BC.

Egyptian Emperor Ramses III leaves us an inscription which states that the 'Sea Peoples' are responsible for the collapse. This inscription and other evidence makes it appear that demographics may have been a factor in the collapse of Bronze Age civization...

Why Share an Experience

March 2, 2020

You are the only one who can share your experiences. If you don't share them, no one will. Academics and Historians will provide an overall view of the course of history but everyday people are the only ones who can write first hand accounts of what changed in your neighborhoods and towns. This website will serve as a means for everyday people to record the demographic changes witnessed at the most basic levels of society.

The people of a society ultimately make a country or culture what it is. For example, the American Constitution was adopted in Nigeria with very different results than those experienced in America. Institutions can only force a population to operate against its will for so long.

Even historians likely will not mention much about demographic change. They will simply describe what changes happened to our institutions or how the values of countries as a whole have changed. History books only sate how one group or another managed to gain power within the context of a larger society. Very little is said about how the numbers of various groups grew or fell...

This website's primary purpose will be to keep a record of the demographic change the world is currently experiencing. Additionally, a database will be kept with submissions from anyone who wishes to share their experiences on this subject.

Please share your own experiences with respect to demographic change on our Contribute page. Local accounts written by everyday people will be extremely valuable to anyone trying to understand how and why the world is currently changing as it is. You are the only one who can communicate your own experiences and it is very important that you do so.
